Liechtenstein is set to integrate Bitcoin as a payment method for government services.

❗️🇱🇮 Liechtenstein is set to integrate Bitcoin as a payment method for government services.

Prime Minister Daniel Risch shared this development in an interview with Handelsblatt, indicating that Bitcoin payments will soon become a reality.

Although a specific timeline was not provided, the current plan involves accepting Bitcoin deposits and swiftly converting them into the national currency, the Swiss franc. This approach aligns with the practices of Swiss communities like Lugano and Zug, where residents can already utilize Bitcoin for government transactions.

Liechtenstein has established itself as a frontrunner in blockchain and cryptocurrency regulation, being among the first countries to enact dedicated legislation, commonly known as the Liechtenstein Blockchain Act and has facilitated a regulated environment for token-related services since its implementation in 2020.

The decision to enable Bitcoin payments for government services further underscores Liechtenstein's commitment to embracing digital currencies and capitalizing on the advantages they bring.

At RLPLawyers, we also understand digital currencies' growing popularity and acceptance. In response to this trend, we have already embraced cryptocurrency as a payment method, providing our clients additional flexibility and choice.
